The power of pausing

The power of pausing

I wrote a blog post on the power of pausing in what seems like a lifetime ago. Pausing to make time to reflect on where you’ve been, where you are and where you want to be. This month I took my own advice.

After a 12-month wait, I jetted off to Hawaii to take part in a business retreat. Many people assumed it was a junket. An excuse to holiday in Hawaii. It wasn’t. Sixteen women and I spent five days working through a transformational process. I had been feeling rudderless.

I love my work with clients, helping them define their brand story. I can see the impact of defining how they add value for their clients. I jump up and down with joy (on the inside) when I see them realise their true value. BUT. And it was a big BUT, I didn’t have a vision for my future. That burning desire that lit me up every morning.

Five, incredible, emotional days later, I am very clear on my vision. I can literally see it in my mind’s eye. It’s not at all what I expected. In fact, I spent quite a bit of time telling myself that my vision was wrong. When I finally gave in to the process, it all became clear. I have come back revitalised, excited and passionate about the future. To ensure that my vision is at the centre of my day, every day, I’m having this photo framed. It’s going to sit on the shelf above my computer. A daily reminder of what I’m working towards.
